National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is a co-curricular opportunity that recognizes middle school students who demonstrate outstanding performance in the following areas: scholarship, leadership, service, and character. This program allows the school to identify students' academic, service, and leadership characteristics and, more importantly, engage participants in further leadership and service experiences aimed at nurturing and, in some cases, enhancing the spiritual, academic, and social goals of the school.
Procedure for Application to NJHS
To be eligible for membership, the candidate must be a member of the sixth, seventh, or eighth-grade class and have been in attendance for one semester in these grade levels at St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic School. In addition, candidates must have a cumulative scholastic average of at least 95% or higher. All students who can rise in scholarship to or above such standard may be admitted to candidacy for selection to membership. Each chapter member's choice shall be by a majority vote of the faculty council. Before the final section, the following will be evaluated:
Students’ academic records shall be reviewed to determine scholastic ability.
Eligible academic students will be notified and asked to fill out the Student Activity Information Form for further consideration for selection.
Candidates shall then be evaluated based on service, leadership, character, and citizenship.
The Faculty Council shall review the Student Activity Information Form.
Late Student Activity Information Forms will only be accepted.
