At St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic School, we have numerous activities and sports that provide growth opportunities and assist in forming leadership. Working together, our students learn to accept the talents and gifts of others by participating in activities that promote the acquisition of social skills while pursuing shared objectives.
Our Athletics Mission Statement
St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic School Athletics, founded in the Holy Cross tradition and by Play Like a Champion Today!™ promotes our athletes' intellectual, physical, spiritual, and moral growth by focusing on the four cardinal virtues: Prudence, Justice, Fortitude, and Temperance.
Philosophy
“While playing sports, Christians also find help in developing the cardinal virtues- fortitude, temperance, prudence, and justice.”
— Pope John Paul II, September 2004
The St. Ignatius Martyr Athletic Program allows students to experience unity, sportsmanship, skill development, physical fitness, and, most importantly, fun. In addition, we strive to develop the entire athlete and assist in growing bodies, minds, and spiritual beings into vital and contributing members of our society and our Church.
We are a member of the CAPPS league (Capital Area Private & Parochial Schools). They aim to promote and encourage student-athletes to grow and develop in citizenship, character, and good sportsmanship by providing and organizing balanced competition and fair play. Our CAPPS programs are for students enrolled in 5th through 8th grade. In addition, at St. Ignatius Martyr School, we offer a 1st and 2nd, as well as a, 3rd and 4th-grade program as the primary developmental and recreational program in our athletics roadmap. We compete in the CYO CTX (Catholic Youth Organization Central Texas).
