The eighth-grade year at St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic School is exceptional, where students, staff, families, and parishioners share in the joy of the journey. Our school's mission is the formation of the whole child - and for eighth grade, this means a look toward the requirements needed to fulfill the profile of the high school graduate four years from now. This is accomplished through formation in faith, knowledge, and service.
A growth mindset is cultivated based on student engagement. We encourage our eighth-grade students to take ownership of their learning through student engagement. We support them with a solid aligned curriculum, dedicated middle school teachers, and a supportive environment necessary to succeed and soar.
The curriculum remains rigorous as we prepare our eighth graders for high school. Leadership is stressed, whether as a member of NJHS or lector during the Mass, helping first grade as a school mass buddy, leading one of the sports teams, or serving as an officer on the Student Council.
During the eighth grade year, there are opportunities to visit and shadow at area Catholic high schools while also assisting with the transition to whichever school the student attends.
