At St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic School, our sixth-grade program is based on an actual middle school model emphasizing academics, cognitive and affective development, student-oriented activities, and exploratory elective classes. Our middle school students are challenged by a rigorous core curriculum that prepares them for success in high school. Students move from class to class and are given opportunities to practice independence and responsibility in an encouraging atmosphere. The theme of collaboration and cross-curricular studies define sixth grade, with the highlight being the school-wide Science Fair.
Sacrament preparation is incorporated into the school day, and students are justice to what they've learned daily. In addition, sixth graders continue their responsibilities in our school buddy program by accompanying the Pre-K4 students to our weekly school Mass and helping them become actual participants in the liturgy.
